  • Serv-Safe certification preferred
  • knowledge of conversion of measurements
  • minimum of one year work experience as a cook strongly preferred
  • extensive knowledge of food service practices and materials
  • knowledge of sanitation and cleanliness standards in food handling
  • ability to supervise employees
  • strong communication and culinary skills
  • ability to follow directions, recipes and sanitation procedures

Job Duties

  • Communicate and inform Manager of Dietary of all late or no-show staff before start of shifts
  • ensures recipes are followed and scaled to population needs
  • supervises food service and client workers
  • assist Director of Dietary with inventory
  • planning and preparing meals for priests and special events
  • overseeing food preparation including choosing quality ingredients and following food temperature and time control guidelines
  • organizing, cleaning and sanitizing the food preparation and kitchen areas
  • reviewing, updating, printing and filing menus, food and cleaning logs, patient nutritional needs and recipe files
  • assist in putting away orders
  • staying informed of nutritional services and regulatory requirements
  • responsible for product availability for all dining room and special function items
  • coordinate with Manager of Dietary on weekly management tasks
  • assist Manager of Dietary with scheduling for all dietary staff
  • assist Manager of Dietary with discipline as needed
  • assist Manager of Dietary in multitasking all duties and responsibilities
  • communicate to Manager of Dietary all concerns, issues and continuing absences daily
  • supervises employees encompassing culinary, servers and stewarding
  • communicate with residents and provide their feedback and concerns
  • available to rotate an on-call schedule to accommodate staffing issues
