The role of a Theater Manager at Regal Cinemas is pivotal, encompassing a broad scope of responsibilities to ensure smooth daily operations and superior guest experiences. This leadership position requires an individual who upholds all company policies, particularly those related to theater operations, human resources, and safety. The Theater Manager is charged with overseeing cash management and concession controls, minimizing inventory shortages, and reducing spoilage to maintain profitability. This role involves hiring, training, and developing staff to build a motivated, skilled team while supervising all staffing functions, including scheduling, counseling, and disciplinary actions, always in consultation with Human Resources partners. The manager also oversees operational aspects such as the projection and audio-visual equipment, guaranteeing that all theatre technology, including booth and projection systems, is maintained and functioning optimally. Cost control measures, including managing expenses for purchasing and inventory auditing, fall under this manager's purview. Facility upkeep is another key area of accountability, requiring supervision of maintenance and janitorial services to ensure the theater meets Regal’s cleanliness and safety standards. Risk management is integral to the role, involving vigilance regarding team member and guest safety, loss prevention, emergency protocol adherence, and investigating incidents. Additionally, the Theater Manager is responsible for guest relations, marketing, showtime scheduling, and ensuring accurate daily financial reconciliations across all payment modes accepted by the company. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of post-secondary education in business or related field preferred
  • two years of management or supervisory experience
  • legal age to sell or serve alcohol if applicable
  • completion of required alcohol server training and certification
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong organizational and leadership skills
  • ability to perform under pressure
  • proficiency with PC platforms and office software
  • physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • willingness to perform minor repairs
  • knowledge of safety and risk management practices
  • ability to handle cash and financial reconciliation accurately

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of post-secondary education in Business or two years management or supervisory experience
  • working knowledge of all systems within the facility in Booth and Projection technology including maintenance, programming, TMS operation and all related projection skills
  • must be of legal age to sell or serve alcohol according to state or local laws if the theatre sells alcohol and duties include selling or serving alcohol
  • completion of any legally required state or local training and obtaining the required certificate
  • completion of the Regal Responsible Beverage Server training on Regal Academy
  • possess good public speaking skills
  • effectively communicate in both oral and written form with employees, vendors, corporate staff
  • listen effectively, respond clearly and directly, and explain information to others
  • perform calculations with speed and accuracy and identify and correct errors

Job Duties

  • Upholding and administering all Regal policies as outlined in Regal Policy Guide and Theatre Support Office directives
  • ensure all cash management policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • control concession inventory shortages and spoilage levels
  • hiring, training, developing, supervising, counseling, scheduling, and after conferring with the Human Resources Business Partners terminating of any employee
  • properly administering all applicable paperwork and upholding all company policies as they pertain to Human Resources
  • ensure required alcohol certification and training are current where applicable
  • supervising all staff positions as required including all projection and audio-visual equipment within the theatre, both hardware and software, as well as all applicable film handling and maintenance as required
  • working knowledge of all systems within the facility in Booth and Projection technology including maintenance, programming, TMS operation and all related projection skills
  • controlling costs, including all direct operating expenses
  • purchasing and ordering stock and any other supplies needed for daily operations, as well as the inventory and auditing processes involved in tracking those supplies
  • supervising theatre maintenance (building and grounds, where applicable) including performing minor repairs and obtaining qualified personnel for larger maintenance concerns
  • monitor janitorial staff to ensure facility is cleaned to Regal standards every day
  • monitoring risk management as it pertains to the theatre, i.e., team member and guest safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and the proper handling, reporting, and investigating of accidents
  • responsible for guest relations
  • marketing and promotions of feature film engagements
  • scheduling of movie show times and the timely delivery of show times to all proper channels
  • and counting, depositing, and reconciling all receipts taken in during a business day. Receipts include cash, credit cards, coupons, gift cards, checks, discount tickets, and any other mode of payment or accountability deemed applicable by Regal
  • required to read and understand training materials that cover subjects such as anti-harassment and discrimination
