The Maintenance & Repair role at ATS is a key position responsible for performing expert-level preventive maintenance (PM) and repair operations on high-capacity industrial refrigeration systems. This includes complex systems such as parallel compressor racks, evaporative cooling towers, process chillers, commercial walk-in coolers, and various refrigerant metering devices. The role demands deep technical knowledge to identify and resolve root causes of equipment failures through detailed diagnostic methods, ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of refrigeration systems.

In addition to physical system maintenance, the role involves the handling of refrigerants in strict compliance with EPA Section 608 regulations, including leak detection, recovery, reclaiming, and recharging processes with meticulous record-keeping. This position requires a thorough understanding of controls and electrical systems associated with refrigeration, encompassing troubleshooting advanced control systems, motor circuits, VFDs, and building automation system integration, all critical for maintaining operational reliability and safety.

Water treatment and cooling tower operations form another vital component of this job, where the technician is responsible for monitoring water chemistry and executing procedures to prevent corrosion, scale, and Legionella risks. Predictive maintenance techniques are employed, leveraging tools such as vibration analysis and thermography to anticipate and prevent equipment breakdowns, further enhancing system reliability.

The position also includes responsibilities for collaborative planning and continuous improvement initiatives, including developing optimized PM procedures, mentoring lower-level technicians, and engaging in energy and refrigerant loss reduction activities. Safety compliance is paramount, with adherence to OSHA guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, EPA regulations, and ASHRAE standards for refrigerant system operation, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel involved.
