The role offered is that of a Recreation Supervisor, a pivotal position within the department. This full-time role involves planning, programming, developing, organizing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating comprehensive recreation services delivered through various divisions such as aquatics, athletics, youth enrichment, special events, amphitheater programming, community health and wellness, adults, and community centers.

The Recreation Supervisor will be tasked with directly supervising staff, including full-time, part-time employees, volunteers, and contract professionals who contribute to the success of assigned programs, classes, facilities, and events. The incumbent will play a key role in recruitment, hiring recommendations, disciplinary actions, and staff development, ensuring a well-trained and effective team is maintained. Additionally, this position involves budget preparation, administration, and monitoring, with oversight and direction.

The compensation package for this role ranges between $39,227 and $50,211 annually, representing a competitive salary for a municipal agency position. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field or combination of education and experience
  • Minimum one year experience in Parks and Recreation or related field
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Basic first aid, CPR, and AED certification within three months of hire

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Recruits, selects, supervises, trains, and appraises volunteer personnel and part-time personnel in assigned areas
  • Maintain accurate payroll records
  • Develop and implement diversified recreational programs in assigned areas including instructional, travel, fitness, athletics, health and wellness, enrichment, and social activities
  • Promote assigned division activities and programs
  • Schedule classes, programs, facilities, special events and activities
  • Evaluate activities through observation, participant contact, and surveys
  • Monitor and oversee marketing efforts using social media and collaborate with Marketing and Communication Manager
  • Update and maintain website, social media, and event pages
  • Assure proper equipment availability and maintain inventory of supplies
  • Maintain daily cash receipts and manage facility opening and closing
  • Prepare work schedules and assignments for staff
  • Ensure enforcement of park and recreation rules and regulations
  • Ensure participant safety
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitor cost effectiveness of programs
  • Purchase necessary supplies and equipment
  • Develop instructional or recreational curricula and teach programs as needed
  • Coordinate volunteers for programs and special events
  • Collaborate with other department divisions to deliver consistent services
  • Secure service providers and ensure contract compliance
  • Collect and respond to patron feedback
