Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in parks and recreation administration or related field
- or six years of direct experience in lieu of degree
- minimum one year experience in parks and recreation or related field
- leadership experience preferred
- basic first aid, CPR and AED certification within three months of hire
- ability to recruit, supervise and evaluate staff
- strong organizational and communication skills
- proficiency with social media and marketing
- budget preparation and financial monitoring capabilities
- physical ability to oversee program setup and facility operations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in parks and recreation administration or related field preferred
- six years of direct experience may substitute for a four-year degree
- combination of education and experience may be considered
- minimum one year experience in parks and recreation or related field preferred
- leadership experience preferred
- basic first aid, CPR and AED certification required within three months of hire
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred
Job Duties
- Recruits, selects, supervises, trains, and appraises volunteer and part-time personnel
- maintains accurate payroll records
- develops and implements diversified recreational programs
- promotes assigned division activities and programs
- schedules classes, programs, facilities, and special events
- evaluates activities through observation and surveys
- oversees marketing efforts including social media
- updates and maintains website and event pages
- assures availability of proper equipment and maintains inventory
- manages daily cash receipts and facility opening and closing
- maintains personnel and payroll records
- prepares work schedules for direct reports
- enforces park and recreation rules and regulations
- ensures participant safety
- assists in budget preparation and monitors financial compliance
- purchases necessary supplies and equipment
- develops instructional or recreational curricula and teaches programs as needed
- coordinates volunteers for programs and events
- collaborates with other departmental divisions
- secures and monitors contract service providers
- collects and responds to patron feedback
