The Gymnastics Program Coordinator position within the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about community health, youth development, and recreational program management. Under the general supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and expanding the City’s gymnastics offerings. This role is integral to implementing the Department’s Master Plan initiatives aimed at boosting youth engagement and enhancing community wellness through gymnastics programming. The coordinator will collaborate extensively with staff and community partners to develop, schedule, and oversee various gymnastics-related activities such as open gyms, camps, instructional classes, birthday parties, youth outreach, and special events.
This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate program delivery, maintain high safety standards, and ensure excellent customer service. Responsibilities include managing service contracts, conducting quality evaluations of current programs, and spearheading outreach efforts to foster community participation. The role also incorporates administrative tasks including budgeting, invoicing, record-keeping, and marketing. Leveraging recreation programming software, the coordinator will facilitate efficient facility usage and program registrations, while continuously updating the City’s communication channels to keep the public informed and engaged.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- four years of experience in recreation or youth services programming
- ability to work tactfully and effectively with the public
- ability to give verbal instructions and to inspect the work of employees supervised
- ability to ensure all practical safety measures are observed
- ability to utilize all required safety equipment
- knowledge and general experience with computers
- skills in effective verbal and written communication
- must hold and maintain a valid drivers' license
- must successfully pass a background check before first day of work and maintain acceptable screening
Job Qualifications
- Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish
- knowledge and experience in community development concepts and practices
- knowledge and familiarity with positive youth development principles and strengths-based approaches to prevention and intervention
- skills and experience working with recreation software
- bachelor's degree in recreation or related field
- CPR/AED certified
- former or active membership in USA Gymnastics, SafeSport, Concussion Training, and Safety and Risk Management
- well-rounded experience coordinating community recreational programs for youth and adults
Job Duties
- Works in a collaborative manner to help implement the City of Boulder gymnastics program
- coordinates portions of the City’s recreational programs including open gyms, camps, instructional recreation programs, birthday parties, youth outreach, and special events
- schedules adult and/or youth programs, seasonal staff and facilities for recreation services
- coordinates and oversees gymnastics program’s service delivery goals including researching best practice methods, creating program plans, and evaluating existing programs
- manages contracted programs and services as lead representative between the city and contractor
- participates actively in community engagement and outreach projects
- ensures all practical safety measures are observed and enforces safety standards
- trains employees in safe teaching methods and coordinates daily tasks
- meets all licensing and required certifications as needed
- takes proper care of equipment and conducts regular inspections
- performs administrative tasks including budgeting, invoicing, and record keeping
- seeks alternative funding sources through partnership fundraising, sponsorships, and grant writing
- assists in interviewing, hiring, training and supervising seasonal staff
- writes and produces training manuals and rulebooks
- organizes and submits invoices and purchasing card statements
- orders supplies for programs
- utilizes departmental recreation programming software for facility booking and program registration
- updates information on the City weather-line and website for program communication
- meets and communicates with staff to schedule program offerings
- performs public relations and marketing tasks
- organizes and submits recreation guide and website information
- produces public education and training presentations
- coordinates marketing efforts
- promotes a culture of teamwork and synergy
- serves on department committees and task forces
- updates job knowledge to remain current with trends
