Job Description
Our organization is a community-focused recreational facility dedicated to providing a wide range of leisure and recreational activities to individuals of all ages. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment where community members can gather, engage in sports, social events, and various educational programs. Operating with a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our local population, we offer diverse programs including athletic events, dances, games, socials, outings, camps, and after-school activities. Our team is passionate about fostering community engagement and wellness through organized recreation and leisure activities.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Recreation Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and has a passion for community service and recreational programming. The Recreation Assistant will perform semiskilled administrative work, assisting in the planning and implementation of various recreational and leisure activities both indoors and outdoors. The role requires collaboration with the Recreation Center Supervisor or an equivalent staff member under limited supervision.
The typical workweek for this role is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts between 9 am and 9 pm to accommodate special programs and events. Responsibilities include supporting event organization such as athletic competitions, social gatherings, and community meetings. The assistant will also be tasked with logistical duties like setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and equipment to ensure all events run smoothly. Reporting on the condition of the facility and equipment, monitoring attendance, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment are also key functions of this role.
An essential part of the Recreation Assistant’s duties includes encouraging participation and enforcing facility rules and policies to maintain a positive atmosphere for all participants. The assistant will have supervisory responsibilities during weekend rentals, ensuring that all activities comply with established guidelines. Documentation and communication of significant events, problems, or issues to the supervisor are critical to sustaining effective operations and providing excellent community service.
Candidates should hold a valid driver’s license and obtain First Aid and CPR certification within their first year of employment to fulfill health and safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute actively to community well-being, develop skills in recreation management, and work within a supportive team environment committed to public service and community engagement.
