Through a strong focus on program development, public engagement, and seamless event execution, it strives to create memorable experiences for the public while promoting economic and cultural growth within the region.
The role of Special Events and Activities Manager is a pivotal position within the Consolidated Government’s recreational and event management team. This full-time role, with a compensation package of $57,003 annually, calls for a seasoned professional to oversee the operations and staff responsible for planning and executing special events that meet the community’s recreational and cultural needs. The Special Events and Activities Manager will be deeply involved in every facet of the event management lifecycle. From conceptualizing and scheduling events to securing venues and controlling event flow, this role demands creativity, strategic planning, and operational expertise. The manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining event budgets, fostering partnerships with potential clients and corporate sponsors, and promoting the utilization of government facilities to maximize community engagement and revenue generation. Success in this role involves coordinating pre-event logistics such as licensing, vendor negotiations, and volunteer management, as well as overseeing post-event activities including cleanup, evaluation, and reporting to identify areas for improvement.
Highly skilled communication is essential, as this role requires building relationships with a variety of stakeholders including local agencies, businesses, sponsors, and the public. The position also requires knowledge of laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures impacting recreation administration and event management. Relevant experience includes supervising teams, managing large-scale event logistics, and ensuring the seamless coordination between contractors and service providers for lighting, sound, security, and concessions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in budgeting, data analysis, administrative tasks, and possess the ability to work independently under pressure while driving a positive team culture.
Overall, this role provides a unique opportunity to be a critical contributor to the community by designing and delivering events that foster entertainment, cultural appreciation, and social cohesion.
