The city government prides itself on fostering an inclusive and innovative workplace culture that upholds its four core values: Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, and Customer Service. These values serve as the foundation of its mission to improve the lives of its citizens by offering high-quality municipal services and enhancing community well-being. Aurora employs a dedicated team of talented individuals who are passionate about public service and who embody the city's vision for a safe, vibrant, and sustainable community. The City of Aurora offers a welcoming work environment supported by competitive compensation and benefits, access to innovative workspaces, internal career development programs, and convenient transportation options such as nearby light rail stations. Employees also benefit from on-site fitness centers and comprehensive wellness initiatives that promote a healthy lifestyle and work-life balance. The City of Aurora is currently seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Clerical Assistant to join its recreation department. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys engaging with the public to create a welcoming atmosphere in community facilities. The Clerical Assistant will serve as the friendly face at the city's vibrant recreation centers and indoor pools, including the Southeast Recreation Center, Central Recreation Center, and Utah Indoor Pool. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide exceptional front desk customer service, assisting residents as they register for a variety of classes and programs designed to promote wellness and community engagement. Beyond typical clerical duties, this role involves handling daily revenue reconciliation, cash handling, and administrative tasks that support the smooth operation of the recreation facilities. Additional responsibilities include setting up and taking down rooms for programs, assisting with preschool activities, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
This role offers variable hour employment as a Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee (VHNE), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. Although this position does not include medical benefits, it does provide sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act. The hourly pay range for this role is $16.36 to $20.45, with salary commensurate with experience. The City of Aurora emphasizes ongoing application screening and encourages interested applicants to apply promptly as the recruitment will close once a sufficient qualified candidate pool is identified. A thorough criminal background check and reference verification are required as part of the hiring process, underscoring the city's commitment to trustworthiness and professionalism. Veterans are encouraged to apply and are requested to submit relevant service documentation to receive preference. This Clerical Assistant position offers a meaningful career path for individuals eager to contribute to community health and happiness, improve public service delivery, and be part of a progressive municipal team dedicated to excellence and inclusivity.
