Job Description

The City of Fayetteville is a dynamic municipal government dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through a variety of community-oriented services. Among these services, the city's Department of Parks and Recreation plays a vital role in fostering community engagement, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing safe, accessible recreational opportunities for people of all ages. As a local government entity, the City of Fayetteville is committed to serving its diverse population through well-maintained facilities, innovative programming, and responsive customer service. The recreation centers under its management are welcoming spaces designed to support a range of activities, from sports and fitness classes to arts and cultural events. These centers act as hubs of community interaction, bringing together individuals and families to participate in enriching experiences that promote physical activity, socialization, and lifelong learning.

The Recreation Center Supervisor position within the City of Fayetteville is a pivotal role responsible for the successful operation and management of a designated recreation center. This full-time supervisory role involves comprehensive oversight of facility operations, program development, staff management, and budget administration. The successful candidate will be instrumental in organizing, planning, and executing a diverse array of recreational activities designed to engage the community. These activities range from arts and crafts to dance classes, games, and athletic events suitable for all age groups—from toddlers to senior citizens.

In this leadership capacity, the Recreation Center Supervisor will provide direction and support to a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality delivery of programs while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Key responsibilities include staff recruitment, training, motivation, and performance evaluation to build a cohesive and effective team. Additionally, the supervisor will manage facility maintenance needs in collaboration with maintenance personnel, ensuring the recreation center remains in excellent condition for all users.

Financial stewardship is also a critical component of the role. The Recreation Center Supervisor will manage the center's budget, oversee registration and program fees, ensure accurate daily revenue reconciliation, and coordinate corrective actions when necessary. This role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to analyze program participation and satisfaction data, and a strategic approach to implementing improvements based on community feedback.

Public relations and marketing are integral to the job, as the supervisor will develop promotional materials such as newsletters, flyers, event schedules, and maintain the center’s webpage with up-to-date information. Collaboration with community instructors, coaches, and volunteers to enhance program offerings and recognition ensures the center remains a vibrant outlet for community participation.

Overall, this position offers a rewarding opportunity for a motivated individual passionate about community recreation and leadership. The Recreation Center Supervisor will directly contribute to making Fayetteville a healthier, more connected community by delivering exceptional recreational services and fostering positive experiences for all residents. This role is ideal for candidates with strong interpersonal skills, a background in recreational programming, and a commitment to public service within a municipal environment.
