Job Description

The Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Programs Branch (N922) operates under the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94) within the Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI. This department specializes in providing essential community-based recreational and leisure services tailored specifically to the Navy community and their families. The MWR programs are dedicated to improving the quality of life for service members, their families, and civilian employees through a variety of activities, facilities, and outreach initiatives designed to foster community spirit and support overall wellbeing. As part of this organizational effort, the NAF Community Programs branch manages Information, Tickets, and Travel (ITT) facilities, which serve as vital hubs for customer engagement, offering access to leisure pursuits, travel arrangements, and event participation opportunities.

The role assigned to the ITT facilities within this branch is pivotal in delivering high-quality customer service directly to patrons, facilitating the sales of tickets, and executing a variety of supporting duties that enable the smooth operation of the Information, Tickets, and Travel program. This position emphasizes interaction with the community by providing accurate information and assistance regarding recreational activities and special events while driving the promotion of leisure opportunities suited to diverse interests and age groups. The incumbent plays an integral role in organizing, planning, and administering special events and entertainment activities designed to enrich the cultural and recreational fabric of the Navy community. Working independently, the position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, the ability to make sound decisions, and the capacity to maintain detailed records and reports.

In addition, knowledge of the broad goals and mission of Navy MWR programs, as well as the scope and suitability of various recreational activities, is essential for success in this role. The position demands a blend of practical skills, including familiarity with office procedures, print production, and computer usage, to support daily administrative functions effectively. Moreover, as a frontline representative of Navy MWR services, the incumbent must exhibit strong customer service capabilities, embodying the department’s commitment to enhancing community morale and welfare. Physical agility is also important, as the job may involve outdoor activities, lifting moderate to heavy equipment, and irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, certifications such as CARE (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively), Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid, and Food Handler certification are either required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, ensuring the incumbent can confidently manage health and safety responsibilities. The position also mandates a valid state driver’s license with the ability to obtain license validation to transport patrons off-base within 90 days of employment. This role is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in recreation, marketing, or customer service who are passionate about community engagement and delivering exceptional leisure experiences tailored to the unique needs of the Navy community. Employment type for this position is classified as Other, and it does not specify a salary range, focusing instead on skills, experience, and community-oriented service excellence.
