The role of Recreation & Fitness Coordinator, located in Merrimack, NH, is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with occasional shift flexibility and no weekend work required. This position provides a unique opportunity to bring energy and creativity to a dynamic work setting, combining hands-on fitness support with program development and community engagement. The Recreation & Fitness Coordinator is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing engaging recreation and fitness programs aimed at keeping participants active, motivated, and connected. This position includes a mix of responsibilities such as recreation programming, fitness floor support, group exercise instruction, personal training, and front desk coverage.
This role stands out with the opportunity to earn additional income through personal training commissions beyond the hourly base pay, without any sales quotas or high-pressure sales expectations. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in recreation management, sports management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience
- current first aid and CPR/AED certifications with in-person component
- industry recognized group exercise certification or willing to obtain within 3 months
- NCCA accredited personal trainer certification or willing to obtain within 1 year
- computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
- experience running leagues and creating tournament brackets
- ability to maintain flexible schedule
- strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
- ability to organize and prioritize work
- ability to work independently and with team
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in recreation management, sports management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience
- current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from recognized organizations with in-person component
- industry recognized group exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA or specialty certification or will be required within 3 months if hired
- NCCA accredited personal trainer certification from approved agency or will be required within 1 year of hire
- computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
- experience in running leagues and creating tournament brackets
- ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs
- strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
- ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Oversees all programming, development, design, implementation and evaluation of recreation programming and other designated areas
- promotes recreation and other program offerings and conducts outreach activities to increase participation including designing flyers and posters for recreation league, projects, gym special events
- creates and maintains league and tournament brackets
- supervises recreation program and facilities, interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participant safety
- performs recreation maintenance responsibilities, ensures playing facilities and equipment are functional and always stocked
- provides individual and group exercise instruction as applicable and educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness
- additional duties as assigned
