The Recreation Aide position within the Parks & Recreation Department is a full-time role based in Powhatan, Virginia, with an annual salary ranging from $37,584 to $60,134. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of recreation programs, facilities, and special community events. The Recreation Aide acts as a frontline ambassador, greeting participants, addressing questions, and delivering professional customer service both in person and through phone or email communications. The role requires assisting with the setup and cleanup of activities, operating recreation and facility software systems, and maintaining accurate attendance and registration records. Handling monetary transactions, enforcing department policies, and monitoring participant safety are critical responsibilities that ensure a secure and pleasant experience for all program participants.
In addition to program support, the Recreation Aide is responsible for inspecting facilities and equipment to identify and report safety concerns, maintaining inventory and supplies, and performing custodial duties to preserve a clean and safe environment. This position also involves assisting with event planning and is expected to provide support during after-hours and weekend events as needed, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to department goals.
