Job Description
Plus One, an Optum company, is a leading provider of fitness and well-being services dedicated to enhancing workplace health across various industries. By offering comprehensive wellness solutions such as fitness, nutrition, ergonomics, wellness coaching, and health promotion, Plus One supports employees in adopting healthier lifestyles through engaging and personalized programs. With a commitment to empathy, hospitality, and fun, Plus One fosters a close connection between team members and clients, ensuring that wellness initiatives are well-received and effective.
Plus One is currently seeking a part-time Recovery Concierge to join a high-profile client's fitness center located in Midtown New York, NY. This role is designed for individuals passionate about musculoskeletal health and interested in promoting recovery and wellness within a corporate environment. The position requires 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with 5-hour workdays and varying start times.
As a Recovery Concierge, you will serve as the primary ambassador for the recovery program, helping to cultivate a culture of health and well-being among members. Your responsibilities will include delivering hands-on therapeutic sessions such as stretch therapy, tissue work, corrective therapy, fascial work, and trigger-point release. You will also track and report on program engagement, success stories, and essential metrics to demonstrate the program's impact.
In addition to providing direct care, you will actively promote wellness room services, encouraging member enrollment and assisting with appointment scheduling to maximize participation. You will maintain the cleanliness and functionality of recovery equipment and partner with the client to develop annual programs and events focused on musculoskeletal health, ensuring that employees remain engaged and informed.
This role demands a knowledgeable professional equipped with strong customer service skills capable of networking and interacting effectively with clients, guests, and participants. A bachelor's degree in human factors, exercise science, exercise physiology, human kinetics, kinesiology, or a related field is required. Additionally, active state licensure in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Massage Therapy is necessary to perform the diverse range of therapies that the role entails.
Experience with manual therapy, including techniques like instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), as well as stretch therapy modalities such as passive stretch techniques, active release techniques (ART), fascial stretch therapy (FST), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and active isolated stretch therapy (AIS) is highly desirable. You may also be skilled in utilizing facilitated recovery technologies including percussive SMR equipment, pneumatic compression therapy, hot and cold therapies, infrared therapy, cryotherapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), pulsating electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), and meditation pods.
Massage therapy experience with various techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, trigger point, and reflexology, will be considered a valuable asset. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, an ability to multitask, and creativity in marketing wellness programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web portals is also essential.
Effective communication skills are crucial, as you will engage with clients and guests professionally and may need to speak publicly to promote wellness initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a client-focused wellness program while working in a vibrant Midtown Manhattan setting.
Plus One offers competitive pay ranging from $35 to $38.50 per hour, depending on education, experience, certifications, and other factors. Alongside this hourly wage, a comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible team members, including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, retirement plans, paid parental leave, and much more. Plus One emphasizes equal opportunity employment and maintains a drug-free workplace, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all employees.
