The available position is a full-time clerical support role within the Community Supervision and Corrections Department located in Port Arthur, TX, offering an hourly wage of $18.04. As a non-exempt role, the position requires regular attendance from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening hours and possible out-of-town travel for training purposes. The primary responsibility is to greet and assist visitors and probationers at the Community Supervision and Corrections office. This includes answering and directing phone calls, providing clerical support, handling cashier functions such as receiving probation payments, and maintaining office security and communication systems.

This position plays an essential role in ensuring the office operates smoothly and efficiently. Duties include logging in offenders, monitoring security systems, managing postal and parcel deliveries, compiling reports, and maintaining accurate financial records related to probation payments. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, organizational skill, and interpersonal communication abilities. It requires experience with standard office practices, typographic proficiency of at least 35 words per minute, and basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.

Employees in this role will interact daily with a diverse range of individuals, including probationers, visitors, law enforcement officials, and co-workers. The ability to handle stressful situations professionally and adhere to confidentiality guidelines is imperative. Candidates possessing bilingual skills in English and Spanish have a preferred advantage but it is not mandatory.

Working conditions for this role are primarily indoors within a climate-controlled office setting. The job is mostly sedentary but requires occasional physical tasks such as lifting light to moderate weight objects and walking within the office to manage mail and files. Due to the nature of the office environment, candidates must be comfortable working in spaces that may experience heavy traffic and background noise. Job Requirements

  • ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform light lifting up to 10 lbs
  • willingness to undergo background and driving record checks

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • balances cash drawer and prepares bank deposits
  • performs other clerical duties as assigned
