Job Description
The Community Education Building (CEB) is a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community by providing a welcoming and resourceful hub for education, collaboration, and support. CEB functions as a multi-tenant facility hosting a range of community partners, tenants, and visitors, all collectively contributing to its mission of fostering educational opportunities and community growth. Committed to inclusivity, professionalism, and support, CEB maintains a dynamic and positive workplace culture focused on customer service excellence and operational efficiency. As part of its ongoing commitment to organizational excellence, CEB seeks a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant who will play a critical role as the first point of contact for visitors, tenants, and callers, supporting the organization’s front-desk and administrative operations.
In this essential role, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant acts as the welcoming face of the Community Education Building, managing front desk coverage and delivering visitor assistance in a courteous, professional manner. The position demands a combination of friendly interaction skills, organizational acumen, and the ability to handle sensitive information with sound judgment. This role is ideally suited for someone with previous customer service experience and an interest in growing within an administrative or nonprofit setting. The position emphasizes maintaining smooth front office operations, including managing phone communications, visitor inquiries, scheduling conference rooms, handling office supplies, and assisting with special projects.
The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant should be highly organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess excellent communication skills. Their responsibilities extend beyond merely answering phones and greeting guests; they help sustain the professionalism and values of the Community Education Building through effective communication and attention to detail. This includes following established security protocols, coordinating with vendors, managing mail and deliveries, and supporting various office functions such as maintaining internal directories, hospitality setups, and administrative tasks for different organizational members.
Working at CEB offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment where enthusiasm for community development and education is paramount. The organization values consistent attendance, calmness under pressure, and a logical problem-solving mindset, providing a supportive platform for personal and professional growth. The Receptionist plays a pivotal role in ensuring a welcoming atmosphere that aligns with CEB’s mission and values, making a visible impact on every visitor’s experience.
Overall, this permanent, likely full-time position provides a rewarding career path for individuals aspiring to expand their administrative skills while contributing meaningfully to a nonprofit dedicated to community enrichment. The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant will gain valuable experience in office management, multi-tasking, and community engagement while benefiting from a friendly, team-oriented working culture.
