Job Description

School District 69 is a reputable and inclusive educational institution dedicated to serving a diverse student population with a commitment to academic excellence and community enrichment. Located in Skokie, Illinois, this district values cultural, racial, and linguistic diversity and strives to foster an environment where all students feel welcomed and supported. The district offers a range of innovative programs designed to enhance the learning experience, including summer exploration opportunities that engage students in meaningful activities beyond the traditional school year.

The Summer Exploration Receptionist is a temporary and seasonal role critical to the smooth operation of the school's summer programs. This position involves managing the daily activities of the school office during the summer sessions, providing essential administrative support under the direction of the Student Activities Director or a designee. Responsibilities include directing phone calls, offering general information to parents, students, and staff, and maintaining accurate student and staff records along with other crucial office forms. The role also involves coverage for the nurse's office, assisting with communication regarding student health issues such as absences, illness, injury, or other health needs, and administering minimal first aid when the nurse is absent.

This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask efficiently, and a friendly demeanor to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff. The Summer Exploration Receptionist must be dependable and adaptable, capable of managing a variety of tasks in a dynamic environment. The work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, totaling 7.5 paid hours per day. Over the course of approximately five weeks, the receptionist will support several weekly summer sessions and participate in mandatory training. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to the educational community during the summer while gaining valuable administrative experience.

The role is compensated at an hourly rate of $17.00, with total earnings amounting to $3,060 for the complete 180 hours of work across the summer program. Candidates must be available for mandatory paid training sessions and be prepared to engage with a culturally and linguistically diverse community. Fluency in a second language is preferred but not required, enhancing communication with a wider range of families and students. This position is ideal for those interested in educational administration, summer program operations, or those looking to gain experience in a school office setting. District 69 is committed to equal employment opportunities and encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, creed, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, or any other protected characteristic.
