Job Description
The Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) is a cooperative educational system dedicated to supporting students with physical, emotional, and other learning challenges across 31 local school districts. SEDOL’s mission centers around providing "Exceptional Services for Exceptional Students by Exceptional Staff," emphasizing a commitment to quality, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals. As an organization, SEDOL holds strong beliefs that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, all students have the potential to succeed, and educational services should be tailored to individual needs and delivered as close to the student's home school as feasible. Additionally, SEDOL emphasizes the importance of collaboration among schools, families, and communities to ensure that students receive the appropriate educational support they require.
SEDOL is currently seeking substitute receptionists for the 2025/2026 school year to serve at various locations including the Administration Building, Gages Lake School, Cyd Lash Academy, and Fairhaven School. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are courteous, professional, and interested in supporting a vital educational environment that fosters student success. Substitute receptionists at SEDOL play a crucial role, acting as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, thus representing the District's dedication to quality service and communication. With a starting wage of $15.90 per hour, this position offers those with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor a chance to contribute meaningfully to an educational setting that prioritizes exceptional service.
The role involves greeting visitors with warmth and professionalism, answering incoming calls with a pleasant and clear phone voice, and performing light clerical tasks to support the smooth operation of the school sites. Substitute receptionists must be adaptable, as they will serve across multiple locations, requiring the ability to quickly understand and align with each site's processes. This position also provides an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to inclusive education and community collaboration. Working within SEDOL means being part of an organization that champions respect, individualized education, and cooperative teamwork, ensuring every student’s needs are met effectively and compassionately.
