Job Description
Madera High School, located in Madera, California, is a prominent educational institution committed to fostering academic excellence and a supportive community for its students. As part of the Madera Unified School District, the school offers a comprehensive learning environment that promotes student achievement through dedicated staff and progressive educational practices. The district emphasizes inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunity employment, ensuring a positive workspace free from discrimination and harassment. Madera High School seeks to recruit highly motivated individuals who wish to contribute meaningfully to the educational mission and enhance the overall school experience for students, parents, and staff alike.
The Receptionist position at Madera High School is a permanent, full-time role integral to the smooth daily operations of the school front office. The incumbent will work an 8-hour shift from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, performing key responsibilities that directly support the school community and learning environment. With a starting salary range of $40,319 to $52,576 annually, the role offers an attractive benefits package inclusive of health, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and eligible dependents.
The primary role of the Receptionist involves greeting visitors, parents, students, and vendors with professionalism and warmth, acting as the first point of contact when they enter the building. This role demands excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, as the position requires bilingual proficiency to effectively serve a diverse population. Acting under the general direction of the Supervisor, the Receptionist manages telephone inquiries, screens calls, directs individuals to appropriate locations, and provides general clerical support such as scheduling, data entry, filing, and maintaining office supplies.
Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in handling documents, messages, and school materials is an essential function. The receptionist will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date site information including phone lists, staff directories, emergency contacts, and event calendars. Additionally, the job may require providing translating and interpreting services to facilitate communication between teachers and Spanish-speaking parents, further supporting community engagement and student success.
Given the nature of the responsibilities, the Receptionist role involves working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities in a fast-paced educational environment. Attention to detail, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are critical to delivering quality support services. The role demands proficiency in standard office equipment and software applications, the ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, and the development of cooperative relationships with co-workers, visitors, and external agencies.
Employment in this role requires passing a Spanish bilingual proficiency exam, demonstrating the required language capabilities. The hiring process includes a competency assessment, fingerprint clearance, a negative TB test, and a pre-employment physical. The position also emphasizes ongoing compliance with district policies and training requirements. Being placed on the eligibility list following assessments does not guarantee employment, as final hiring decisions rest with the school’s hiring authority.
Madera High School values inclusivity and equal opportunity, making this an excellent role for individuals eager to contribute to a dynamic educational environment, deliver welcoming and efficient front office services, and support the overall success and achievement of students and the school community.
