The current opportunity is with BioLife, a division of Takeda, specializing in plasma donation centers. As part of their dynamic team in Rochester, NY, BioLife supports the collection of high-quality plasma that is essential for manufacturing life-saving medicines, particularly for rare diseases. This role is full-time, non-exempt, and entails direct interaction with donors and operational support within the plasma center. The starting wage for this position is $18.00 per hour, aligned with or above state minimum wage requirements, and the role includes eligibility for various benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, and paid time off.
In the role of Receptionist at the plasma donation center, you will be the first point of contact for donors and visitors, playing a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service. You will manage phone communications, assist donors with appointments, and maintain organized donor records, ensuring smooth daily operations. The role requires attention to detail and proactive identification of opportunities for operational improvement, with direct reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. Your work will directly support a mission-driven environment where every interaction helps improve patients’ lives by securing vital plasma donations.
This position requires physical ability to walk or stand for entire shifts, adeptness with manual tasks such as filing and lifting, and comfort working in a healthcare setting with exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees
- Ability to lift 1 to 5 lbs and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs and rarely 50 lbs
- Fine motor coordination and depth perception
- Ability to hear equipment from a distance
- Willingness to wear gloves for prolonged periods due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a customer or patient facing role

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties
- Answer phones and greet all visitors to the facility including new and repeat donors promptly exhibiting customer service skills
- Assist donors with appointments
- Create or pull donor record files
- Provide customer service to donors and fellow employees
- Maintain orderly filing system and purge records
- Report to the center management team in identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement
- Initiate changes to center processes through use of company approved procedures
