The role of Receptionist at Takeda’s BioLife Plasma Center involves being the primary point of contact for donors and visitors, ensuring a positive experience from arrival through service completion. This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt employee position located in Rochester, NY, with a starting hourly wage of $18.00, subject to local wage laws. The role demands a high degree of customer service, administrative skill, and attention to detail.

As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for greeting donors and visitors promptly, managing phone communications effectively, and assisting donors with scheduling appointments. Your duties include creating and retrieving donor record files, providing excellent customer service to both external donors and internal team members, and maintaining an organized filing system. Additionally, you will actively support continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with the center management team to identify operational efficiencies and implement approved procedural changes.

The position requires physical stamina including the ability to stand or walk for the entire shift, bend, stoop, lift up to 32 lbs occasionally, and wear gloves for prolonged periods due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Candidates with at least one year of experience in customer-facing roles will be preferred, highlighting the importance of interpersonal skills and professional communication in this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to walk and stand for the entire work shift
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulders and below knees
  • Ability to lift 1 to 5 lbs and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs and rarely 50 lbs
  • Fine motor coordination and depth perception
  • Ability to hear equipment from a distance
  • Willingness to wear gloves for prolonged periods due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  • Minimum one year experience in a customer or patient facing role is helpful

Job Duties

  • Answer phones and greet all visitors including new and repeat donors promptly exhibiting customer service skills
  • Assist donors with appointments and create or pull donor record files
  • Provide customer service to donors and fellow employees
  • Maintain an orderly filing system and purge records
  • Report to the center management team identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes using company approved procedures
