Job Description
Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital is a distinguished healthcare institution formed through a joint venture partnership between Select Medical and Lutheran Hospital. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this inpatient rehabilitation hospital is dedicated to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to patients facing complex medical challenges. Our hospital specializes in treating individuals with conditions such as brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas. We focus on a multidisciplinary approach that addresses not only the physical but also the emotional and vocational rehabilitation needs of our patients, ensuring a comprehensive recovery process.
At Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital, the commitment to quality care is matched by our dedication to fostering a supportive work environment. We currently seek a Receptionist to join our team on a Per Diem schedule, offering a competitive compensation of $18.00 per hour. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our facility's front desk, serving as a vital point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff.
The Receptionist will be responsible for screening visitors to ensure appropriate access and building security. This entails managing visitor sign-ins, providing visitor passes, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to connect or transfer calls efficiently while performing overhead paging when necessary. The Receptionist also supports the Admissions Coordinator by covering breaks and assisting during peak times, facilitating tours for prospective patients, and coordinating essential services such as wheelchair distribution.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring and reporting unusual behavior in the lobby and parking areas, ensuring patient gifts are delivered promptly by notifying nursing staff, and handling incoming and outgoing mail to support hospital administrative functions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of maintaining organized logs, including job applications received at the front desk.
Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital offers a strong orientation program titled 'Start Strong' to ensure every new employee transitions smoothly into our healthcare environment. The hospital provides growth opportunities where dedication and skills can lead to full-time positions. We also prioritize employee well-being by offering benefits that support financial, work-life, and emotional health. Even part-time and Per Diem staff are eligible for 401k plans upon reaching 1,000 work hours within their first anniversary or the subsequent calendar year, in addition to access to an employee assistance program.
Joining Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital means becoming part of a team of over 44,000 committed professionals united in providing exceptional patient care. We take pride in our inclusive and equal opportunity work environment, welcoming disabled individuals and veterans alike. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to contribute meaningfully to patient care services while working in a dynamic and supportive rehabilitation hospital setting.
