Job Description

Jackson Health System is a leading healthcare organization in Miami, Florida, committed to providing exceptional medical services to its diverse community. It encompasses various hospitals, specialty centers, and community health facilities dedicated to serving the health needs of residents across Miami-Dade County. Among its many facilities, Jefferson Reaves Sr. Health Center stands out as a critical healthcare hub located at 1009 NW 5th Avenue, Miami. This center is particularly known for its dedication to delivering compassionate, comprehensive primary care within the historically significant Overtown community and its surrounding neighborhoods. The clinic is multi-lingual, offering patient care in English, Spanish, and Creole, which demonstrates its commitment to inclusivity and cultural competency.

Jefferson Reaves is also home to the University of Miami-run Family Medicine Residency Training Program, which supports the professional development of future healthcare providers. The health center's integration with Jackson Memorial Hospital enables seamless referrals for specialized medical services, enhancing patient care continuity and access to advanced treatments. The full-time Patient Greeting Receptionist position at Jefferson Reaves Sr. Health Center is a front-line role pivotal to the patient experience. Working day shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with rotating weekends, this role requires a personable and efficient individual who will be the primary point of contact for patients entering the health center.

The Patient Greeting Receptionist ensures patients receive timely and compassionate service, managing their check-in process and assisting with schedule coordination. Responsibilities include collecting and scanning identification and insurance documents into electronic health records (EHR), handling financial transactions such as copays and deductibles, and confirming appointments. This role also involves managing appointment rescheduling for patients who miss or cancel visits and assisting therapists with scheduling tests and ancillary services. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are crucial, as the receptionist must coordinate insurance eligibility verification and authorizations, manage incoming communications, and maintain confidentiality while providing exceptional customer service reflecting the CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise.

Candidates are expected to have high school diploma strongly preferred, with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience desirable. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally with sound judgment. Proficiency in relevant technology and software used in healthcare settings is essential, alongside a professional demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Licensure or certification may be required depending on specific job or specialty requirements. Jackson Health System values diversity and inclusivity, offering equal employment opportunities to all applicants without discrimination based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other protected statuses.
