This opportunity is for a Receptionist position based in Seattle, Washington, offering a competitive hourly rate of $21.96 to $22.50. The role is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 5 PM. Cascade PBS values its employees and supports team members working 20 hours or more per week with a comprehensive benefits package. The Receptionist will be the welcoming face of the organization, playing a crucial role in maintaining professional and courteous communication with all visitors and callers. This position requires a person who is friendly, prompt, and dedicated to upholding the organization's mission and values.

The Receptionist is responsible for managing the front desk, including greeting and directing visitors, handling multi-line phone systems, and facilitating effective communication between departments. Duties also extend to handling mail and courier deliveries, maintaining security by distributing badges, and coordinating with various internal teams to provide accurate information and support. The role involves administrative support tasks such as inventory management, maintaining the office environment, and assisting with special events and on-call duties. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be proficient with Microsoft Outlook and other Office software, and have a commitment to ongoing skill development to support evolving technical needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of receptionist and/or customer service experience required
  • One year of experience with multi-line telephone system strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills appropriately tailored to different recipients required
  • Committed to working with and supporting diverse guests and visitors
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, working knowledge of MS Office software, commitment to ongoing technical skill development as relates to the position
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with a positive and professional manner
  • Moderate to heavy physical tasks up to lifting 55 pounds unassisted required
  • Lifting, stretching, climbing steps, bending and moving office equipment required
  • Ability to sit and type for long periods of time
  • Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call shifts as needed

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Open and secure Cascade PBS lobby area and keep the area orderly and free of clutter
  • Greet and direct station guests and visitors
  • Handle and route internal and external calls and paging on a multi-line phone system
  • Refer questions and requests for information to the appropriate departments such as Programming, Customer Service, Engineering, and Accounting
  • Accept and monitor incoming and outgoing courier deliveries including UPS and FedEx
  • Assign, distribute and collect ID badges for vendors and guests, as well as tracking temporary use badges
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate
  • Work closely with other Receptionists to assist team members with parking inquiries and issues via Cascade PBS's parking app
  • Update and maintain Reception page on Cascade PBS internal intranet
  • Process and prepare outgoing mail
  • Open, sort, mark as received, and distribute daily incoming mail to internal mailboxes
  • Inform recipients of incoming packages and maintain staff mailboxes
  • Monitor station vehicle calendars
  • Inventory, order, and maintain Admin event closet, lunchroom, and general office supplies
  • Empty dishwasher each morning
  • Update and distribute Cascade PBS Phone List
  • Work closely with on-call to provide training and updates on new protocols, practices, and equipment
  • Train supplemental staff and other temporary front desk personnel
  • Staff reception desk during special events as assigned
  • Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of Cascade PBS
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
