The organization is committed to providing compassionate, superior quality healthcare services to individuals grappling with mental health and substance use disorders. Known for its strong culture of Service Excellence, Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral emphasizes treating everyone as a guest, demonstrating professionalism, excellence, and fostering teamwork among its staff. As part of UHS—one of the nation’s largest and most respected healthcare providers with over $15.8 billion in annual revenue and nearly 99,000 employees—Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health benefits from a strong foundation of industry leadership and a commitment to innovation and patient-centric care.
This part-time Receptionist position offers an opportunity to become the welcoming first point of contact for patients, visitors, and hospital staff in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment. Serving as the face of the hospital’s front desk, the Receptionist plays a crucial role in creating a warm, organized, and customer-friendly atmosphere that supports efficient communication flow and enhances the overall patient and visitor experience.
The role requires managing multiple responsibilities including answering and responding to telephone inquiries courteously, providing accurate information or directions, and ensuring seamless handling of incoming mail and deliveries. The Receptionist also manages visitor sign-in procedures, distributes visitor badges, and assists patients and visitors by guiding them to the appropriate locations or staff members within the facility. The position demands high attention to detail regarding documentation, particularly for needs assessments and referral calls, and requires the ability to provide various clerical supports as assigned by the department head. This position notably operates during evening, night shifts, and every other weekend, catering to the hospital’s requirement for consistent front desk coverage.
Working as a Receptionist at Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health means being an integral part of a community dedicated to supporting people during critical times in their mental health journeys. The hospital fosters an inclusive and respectful work culture that values diversity and equal employment opportunities. Employees are encouraged to uphold high standards while embracing the hospital's mission to provide top-notch behavioral health services with empathy and respect. Additionally, UHS and its subsidiaries actively maintain transparency and security for applicants throughout the recruitment process, ensuring protection against fraudulent job solicitations.
Applicants joining this role will be part of a team that not only values excellent interpersonal skills but also the willingness to work collaboratively in a healthcare setting that offers growth, stability, and rewarding service experiences. Candidates with a High School diploma or GED, basic BLS certification, and preferably one year of experience with multi-line phone systems will find this role aligns well with their skills and career aspirations in healthcare administration and patient services. The Receptionist position provides a chance to contribute meaningfully to a trusted hospital environment while benefiting from the support of a large, reputed healthcare system like UHS.
