Serving thousands of individuals and their families annually, Ability KC has established itself as a nationally accredited leader in value-based care. The organization offers a wide range of services including educational, vocational, and therapeutic support designed for people of all ages. With a commitment to making a positive impact on the community, Ability KC helps individuals with disabilities build brighter futures by enabling critical life transitions such as starting school, returning to work, or regaining independence. This facility has maintained its status as a designated comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facility (CORF) since 2002 and holds accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities since 1971, as well as recognition from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The front receptionist plays an essential role in representing Ability KC and ensuring smooth communication between patients, visitors, department staff, and leadership. This full-time position is located at 3011 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO, and involves handling primary front desk responsibilities such as answering and transferring phone calls, monitoring emails, faxing reports for both adult and pediatric medical departments, paging employees and visitors, and providing directions throughout the facility. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining security by following safety protocols, overseeing visitor check-ins with visitor and children’s stickers, monitoring daily patient logs, and ensuring new patient sign-in sheets are properly maintained. The role also includes administrative duties such as stocking supplies, managing postage stamps, distributing mail, managing incoming packages, and ensuring copiers and fax machines are operational.

Additional office assignments may involve clerical tasks related to purchase orders, payments, and receipts, requiring coordination between departments while strictly maintaining patient and client confidentiality. The role demands excellent communication skills, proficiency in word processing software including EMR systems, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus the ability to engage compassionately with individuals with disabilities and the public. Ability KC’s receptionist works closely with managers, supervisors, and department leaders to support the organization’s mission and promote a collaborative work environment. Regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to ongoing training requirements are vital to success in this role. Emphasizing a culture rooted in relationship-building, innovation, and making a meaningful community impact, Ability KC fosters a supportive workplace offering services Monday through Friday and a comprehensive benefits package including paid Winter Break and Wellness Care Leave.
