The Receptionist role at Cleveland Clinic's J3 patient waiting lounge is a vital position that supports several critical care units, including the Coronary ICU, Heart Failure ICU, and Cardiac Short Stay units. This position serves as the primary point of contact for families and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment when they arrive. The receptionists are responsible for coordinating visitation schedules in line with unit policies and escorting family members to patient care areas, facilitating smooth communication between patients' loved ones and clinical staff. As the initial face of the Clinic’s patient and family engagement efforts, receptionists play a significant role in shaping the overall visitor experience. A warm, empathetic demeanor combined with excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role, as the receptionist helps foster trust and comfort during what can be a stressful time for families. Working hours for this position are from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage and rotating holiday shifts. This schedule requires flexibility and dedication, as the receptionist must be available to address patient and family needs consistently.
