This hospital is designed to provide patients with extended recovery periods in a setting that offers the same in-depth care as a traditional hospital. With a partnership model that works closely with physicians, Kindred Hospital Chicago - North provides 24-hour clinical care seven days a week to support patients on their journey to wellness. The hospital’s emphasis on compassionate, continuous care and its commitment to patient and family-centered practices make it a trusted healthcare provider in the community.\n\nThe role at Kindred Hospital Chicago - North involves operating the hospital’s telephone switchboard to efficiently handle incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. Additionally, this role may involve contacting and meeting with families to sign admission paperwork promptly, demonstrating the importance of timeliness and attention to detail in patient admission processes.\n\nA significant part of this role involves communication and information management. The individual will courteously answer, route, and screen calls, transferring them to the correct departments or extensions, taking accurate messages, or holding calls when necessary. The position requires handling sensitive calls such as pages for doctors, emergency codes like code blue or fire alerts, and assisting with calls for patients needing help, emphasizing the critical nature of accurate communication in a hospital setting.\n\nThis role also requires maintaining updated directories of hospital departments, extension numbers, and contact details for other hospitals in the area, along with logging patient names, room numbers, and telephone extensions to facilitate efficient call relay. The individual serves as a point of contact for clinical leadership when emergency patients arrive and plays an active role in disaster communication and response within the hospital. The candidate must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking fluent English and exhibit consistent attendance and reliability.\n\nPreferred experience includes familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel, which supports administrative efficiency. This full-time role offers a pay range of $16.00 to $20.29 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package through ScionHealth, encompassing Medical, Dental, Vision coverage, 401(k) plans, flexible spending accounts (FSA/HSA), life insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs.
