Job Duties
- Operates telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls
- Greets and receives visitors and directs them appropriately
- Contacts and meets with families to sign admission paperwork timely
- Performs charge entry and follows charge control guidelines when requested
- Answers, routes and screens outside calls to the proper department or extension
- Transfers calls, takes accurate messages and holds calls when necessary
- Pages emergency codes such as code blue, fire alerts, and stat calls per protocol
- Maintains logs of patient names, room numbers and telephone extensions
- Notifies clinical leadership of emergency patients
- Receives disaster information and notifies appropriate personnel
- Signals all clear when appropriate
