Aria Community Health Center (ACHC) is a dedicated Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic, committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the communities it serves. Located across Fresno, Kings, and Tulare counties, ACHC delivers comprehensive medical and dental services through its network of clinics. The center also provides specialized care, including services in Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychology, Podiatry, and Optometry. The Receptionist - Floater position at ACHC plays a crucial role in connecting patients with the clinical and service staff, ensuring that each patient's visit is managed with the highest level of care and efficiency. This role requires a flexible and proactive individual who can seamlessly support multiple clinic locations as needed. The receptionist acts as the initial point of contact for patients, navigating a variety of duties from greeting visitors and managing appointment flow to assisting patients with insurance options and enrollment in health plans such as Medi-Cal and Covered California. Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Six months of medical receptionist experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads
  • Ability to type at least 45 WPM
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Prior clerical experience in healthcare preferred
  • Able to work overtime and travel between clinic locations as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Six months of medical receptionist experience in a comparable healthcare setting
  • Prior administrative or clerical experience in clinical or community-based settings highly preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards
  • High degree of diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Intermediate to advanced phone skills
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing departmental needs
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred, additional languages desirable
  • Knowledge of basic math and modern office procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Data entry experience and ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute
  • Ability to operate a 10 key calculator preferred
  • Valid driver license with a clear driving record
  • Must be 21 years or older.

Job Duties

  • Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including word processing, copying, scanning, faxing, answering phones and data entry
  • Provides information to ACHC callers according to policies and procedures, transfers calls as needed, ensures adequate phone coverage
  • Welcomes and greets patients, clients, visitors in a helpful and friendly manner, determines purpose of visit and directs accordingly
  • Schedules patient flow to the clinic based on appointments to serve community needs
  • Screens patients for new addresses, new patient visits or updates registration during scheduling and informs patients of necessary visit information
  • Identifies patients without medical coverage and provides insurance options, assists with in-person or phone enrollment for qualified health plans
  • Follows up with patients post-enrollment to confirm coverage and communicates with billing department
  • Adheres to ACHC safety and security policies, maintaining confidentiality of access codes and passwords
  • Practices confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA and ACHC policies while delivering excellent customer service
  • Maintains patient waiting areas, office files, and front-desk areas orderly and neat
  • Informs patients of existing balances and requests payment at the time of visit
  • Calls patients daily to confirm upcoming appointments
  • Verifies methods of payment and collects data or payment as appropriate
  • Exercises problem-solving and conflict resolution with patient complaints, referring cases as appropriate
  • Attends scheduled department and clinical meetings
  • Travels to other clinics as needed for coverage
  • Works overtime as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
