The role of Clinic Receptionist at MercyOne Health System is a key position responsible for creating a welcoming and professional environment for patients and visitors at the healthcare clinic. The receptionist verifies insurance eligibility, accurately collects demographic and insurance information, and handles payments such as copays and outstanding balances during the patient visit. Entering data meticulously into the Electronic Health Record system and scanning necessary patient documents ensures seamless record-keeping and confidentiality. This position demands strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining privacy standards.
The Clinic Receptionist must be proficient in handling multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and friendly demeanor. The ability to communicate clearly in English with patients, visitors, and team members is crucial. Additionally, the role requires adherence to professional standards, including obtaining Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification within three months of hire and completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider certified or obtained within three months of hire
- proof of completion of mandatory reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire
- ability to read, write and understand the English language

Job Duties
- Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions
- perform patient check-in at the time of visit and complete all steps necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and in compliance with all clinic and regulatory policies
- answer phone calls and direct them appropriately
- schedule appointments according to office guidelines
- obtain accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays (TOS) and deductible amounts
- copy or scan patient access related hardcopy materials into the correct location in the electronic medical record
