Operating from its headquarters in Austin, Texas, CTFB serves a vast 21-county region with a dedication to increasing food access for those in need. The organization’s mission emphasizes providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy initiatives, and transforming lives through a combination of innovative solutions, educational programs, and community partnerships. Each year, CTFB supports over 612,000 food-insecure individuals by working alongside approximately 250 nonprofit community partners. The Food Bank prides itself on fostering a collaborative and community-centered culture that upholds the values of Service, Integrity, Dignity, Collaboration, and Innovation. The establishment is committed to creating a healthier future for their neighbors, ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all Central Texans.
The Central Texas Food Bank is currently seeking a service-oriented Receptionist to join its Talent team. This pivotal role serves as the frontline interaction point for the Food Bank, welcoming neighbors, volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and other community stakeholders. The Receptionist position involves providing exemplary customer service and acting as a steward for all visitors who come to the Food Bank. Reporting directly to the Chief Talent Officer, this role holds a high level of visibility both within the organization and in the community. It requires working on-site full time, with a 40-hour workweek based in the office. The position is integral to shaping the public experience at CTFB, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a passion for the Food Bank’s mission.
The Receptionist will act as a vital liaison between the organization and a broad range of stakeholders, building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners. This role involves managing incoming calls and in-person visitor inquiries, directing stakeholders to the appropriate personnel or resources, and providing up-to-date information about the Food Bank’s operations and services. The Receptionist also handles important logistical duties including managing mail and packages, facilitating visitor check-ins, coordinating volunteer communications, and assisting with donation processing. Other key responsibilities include scheduling internal coverage to ensure continuous front desk operation, supporting the upkeep of the reception and waiting areas, and developing written protocols to maintain efficient workflow standards at the front desk.
Qualified candidates must be fluent in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in a high-volume, customer-facing environment such as a reception, call center, or service-oriented role is essential. The role requires high-level interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with empathy, and the capacity to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and communication platforms like Slack is also required. A steadfast commitment to CTFB’s mission and values, along with a genuine desire to work with diverse populations, is crucial. Individuals who thrive in this position are dependable, service-minded, and enthusiastic about making a meaningful impact in their community through frontline support at the Food Bank.
