Job Description

Oak Park Temple is a vibrant religious community that prides itself on providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for its congregants and visitors. Situated in a convenient location with ample on-site parking and easy access to public transportation, the Temple serves as both a spiritual home and a center for community activities. Known for its commitment to fostering meaningful connections among its members, the Temple offers a variety of programs, events, and services that meet the diverse needs of the community it serves. The Temple values respect, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions, supporting a positive atmosphere for spiritual growth and social engagement.

We are seeking a dedicated Receptionist and General Office Support professional to join Oak Park Temple’s administrative team on a full-time basis. This newly created position is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of our front office and the overall administrative environment of the Temple. As the first face and voice of the institution, the Receptionist embodies the warm and inclusive spirit of the Temple by greeting congregants, prospective members, and guests with professionalism and kindness, whether in person or over the phone. This role demands a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a calm demeanor who can effectively manage shifting priorities and multitask in a dynamic environment.

Reporting directly to the Temple Administrator, the Receptionist will be responsible for a variety of front-desk duties including answering phone calls, managing inquiries, taking messages, and maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information. In addition to handling congregational and visitor relations with care and discretion, the individual will support internal office operations through accurate data entry, database management, clerical support, and oversight of office supplies and correspondence. The Receptionist will also collaborate closely with volunteers, teachers, staff, and students to facilitate day-to-day building activities and maintain fluid communication within the Temple community.

This role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $20.00, depending on qualifications and experience, and includes comprehensive health and dental coverage, paid time off for vacation, sickness, and personal days, as well as paid closures on both secular and Jewish holidays. The position operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, requiring physical presence at the Temple. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a community-oriented environment and values contributing to a faith-based organization that promotes inclusivity and connection. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026.
