SEDG is staffed by a team of highly trained physicians specializing in the medical and surgical sub-specialty of dermatology. The Receptionist role at Dermatology Solutions Group serves as a critical frontline position responsible for ensuring seamless interactions with patients and visitors. This position reports directly to the Office Administrator and emphasizes a strong service orientation to create positive patient experiences and support clinical operations efficiently. The Receptionist is tasked with answering telephones, assisting patients through the registration and intake process, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records within the Practice Management System, specifically eClinical Works. By welcoming patients warmly both in person and on the phone, the Receptionist plays a vital role in shaping patients' perceptions of the practice and contributes to efficient patient flow. Additional duties include handling insurance verifications, managing financial transactions such as copay collections, and coordinating follow-ups for no-show appointments. The role requires strong communication skills, exceptional professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. With knowledge of dermatology practice preferred but not mandatory, this position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to providing superior customer service in a dynamic clinical environment. The work environment is office-based with exposure to clinical conditions, making adaptability and adherence to confidentiality especially important. This is a full-time position designed to support the vital front-end administrative functions critical to the patient care continuum at Southeastern Dermatology Group.

Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- one year medical experience working in a physician's office or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred
- ability to tolerate sitting and working at a desk for 8 hours per day
- proficiency in computer keyboarding (minimum 30 WPM) and effective use of Microsoft Office products
- full range of body motion including ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stand, stoop, stretch, lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and medical equipment
- normal range of hearing and eyesight including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus
- valid driver's license and good driving record
- willingness to work at other jobs or office locations as required
- availability for occasional travel

Job Duties
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries
- notes patient arrival in Practice Management System (eClinical Works)
- identifies patients by date of birth and name in computer system and creates new account if patient is not in the system
- prepares Encounter Forms prior to patient's appointment
- calls "No Show" appointments to reschedule, makes appropriate notations in Practice Management System
- optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone and comforts patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions
- helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies
- reviews Practice Management System (eClinical Works) for information that needs to be updated and works with patients to obtain updated information and accurately enters it
- identifies payer sources, verifies insurance eligibility, financial status and assigns correct payer type
- verifies if prior authorization from insurance is required and notifies Billing Department if required
- keeps the reception area clean and organized
- records and updates financial information and collects patient copays and/or balances at check in/out
- maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock, anticipating supplies needed, placing orders and verifying receipt
- cross-trains and works in the call center as needed
- protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
- maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reports changes
- contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- demonstrates superior customer service skills
- answers the telephone in a timely and polite manner
- communicates with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner
- effectively uses EMR system to document patient records using proper English grammar, spelling, and syntax
- remains highly professional in appearance, tone and delivery
- dedicated to follow-thru and results
- applies knowledge of dermatology practice preferably
- exercises exceptional listening and problem-solving skills
- works independently and in a group setting with high integrity and sound judgment
- handles complaints diplomatically and functions well under pressure
