Job Description

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a well-established Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has been serving diverse communities since 1978, with a special focus on Latino populations in Washington State. The Receptionist position at Sea Mar plays a vital frontline role in creating a positive experience for all visitors and callers to the facility. This role is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing incoming calls professionally, and offering clerical support that drives the efficiency of administrative operations. The Receptionist serves as a key ambassador for the organization, embodying Sea Mar's mission-driven ethos and commitment to social justice, client dignity, and culturally sensitive interactions. Individuals in this role are expected to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish as appropriate, demonstrating empathy, organization, and professionalism in handling diverse client needs and office responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • High school education required
  • No professional certifications required
  • Customer Service/General Front Desk training is preferred
  • Must take and pass an annual TB test
  • Annual influenza vaccine required with exceptions for approved medical or religious exemptions
  • Must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient related information
  • Must comply with all ethical standards of Sea Mar
  • Must complete an annual competency test as a receptionist
  • No history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for at least three years immediately prior to employment and no misuse during employment
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to handle frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Job Qualifications

  • Good communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Word processing and spreadsheet experience desired
  • Sensitive to client needs (Mental Health/Substance Abuse)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, with demonstrated writing and speaking fluency
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Job Duties

  • Responds to telephone calls professionally by directing callers to appropriate staff members or by taking written messages
  • Responds to visitors politely and professionally by directing callers to appropriate staff members and/or locations
  • Handles all oral and written tasks in fluent English or fluent Spanish as appropriate to individual tasks
  • Provides helpful, efficient clerical support to administrative personnel, including typing word processing and spreadsheets
  • Receives incoming mail, stamps exterior of all incoming mail, opens and stamps specified mail including accounts payable, weighs and places correct postage on outgoing business mail
  • Assists with receiving deliveries of supplies
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor
