The Receptionist role at Mattel HQ in El Segundo, California, is a vital position within the Global Security Team tasked with ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the company’s main office environment. This onsite position offers a competitive hourly pay range of $19 to $22, depending on experience, alongside comprehensive benefits designed to support employee well-being and professional growth. As a Receptionist, the selected candidate will be the first point of contact for all visitors, vendors, and employees, providing exceptional customer service both in person and through various communication channels. The role requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative spirit. Key responsibilities include greeting visitors, managing access control protocols in accordance with company policy, issuing visitor badges, answering and directing phone calls, and maintaining a neat and orderly lobby area. The receptionist also plays a pivotal role in supporting the security function by compiling reports, data entry, and monitoring the premises for any security or safety concerns.

Additional responsibilities involve supporting intellectual property processes to maintain confidentiality and assist with controlled destruction procedures as per Mattel standards. Flexibility is essential as the receptionist must be prepared to adjust shift times to meet business needs, including potential work during weekends or holidays. Importantly, this role requires a valid California driver’s license, the ability to obtain a California Guard Card within a specified time frame, and certification or willingness to certify in First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two plus years of reception, customer service, security, or military background preferred
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • valid California driver’s license
  • ability to obtain California Guard Card within specified months of hire date
  • certification in First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens or willingness to obtain through training provided by Mattel
  • flexibility to adjust shift times including weekends and holidays
  • ability to work onsite at El Segundo headquarters

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all Mattel employees, vendors, and visitors on property
  • ensure security and safety protocols are followed
  • answer phone calls and transfer as appropriate
  • provide visitors with information to navigate the building including pointing out nearest amenities and fire exits
  • issue visitor passes
  • maintain a neat appearance of reception/lobby area
  • periodically inspect common area equipment to ensure good operating condition
  • perform administrative tasks for the security function as needed including compiling reporting, data entry, and data tracking
  • monitor the lobby to report any suspicious activity and/or safety concerns to Global Security
  • ensure adherence to access control standards including the employee badge policy, visitor registration, temporary or contract worker check ins and intern badging along with other visitor types
  • support intellectual property processes surrounding confidentiality and controlled destruction of IP per Mattel standards
  • adjust shift times to support business needs including weekends or holidays as required
  • other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
