Job Description
Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) established in 1978, dedicated to delivering quality, comprehensive health, human, housing, educational, and cultural services to diverse communities, with a specific focus on serving Latino populations in Washington State. This organization proudly embraces inclusivity, providing services to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, sexual orientation, or ability to pay. Sea Mar operates an extensive network of more than 90 clinics specializing in medical, dental, and behavioral health services, alongside nutritional, social, and educational programs. As a community-driven entity, Sea Mar emphasizes culturally competent care and strives to positively impact health outcomes by addressing the unique needs of the populations it serves.
The role of Receptionist at Sea Mar Community Health Centers is vital in ensuring smooth administrative operations and offering welcoming, professional front-line service. The Receptionist acts as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, providing guidance and assistance to facilitate efficient communication and access to various departments within the facility. This position requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English to effectively communicate with the diverse clientele typical of Sea Mar’s service demographics. The Receptionist’s responsibilities extend beyond greeting and directing visitors and phone inquiries to include essential clerical duties such as managing incoming and outgoing mail, entering data, and supporting administrative staff with office tasks including word processing and spreadsheet management.
Working at Sea Mar comes with a commitment to public health mandates, including mandatory COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations, underscoring the organization’s dedication to creating a safe environment for employees and clients alike. The physical and organizational environment demands adaptability to moderate noise levels, along with sufficient physical capabilities to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and handling office supplies. Sea Mar seeks candidates who demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to client needs, particularly those involving mental health and substance abuse support.
With an hourly wage of $21.30, this position offers a stable opportunity for individuals who value community service and wish to contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of underserved populations. Sea Mar values ethical conduct, confidentiality, and ongoing professional development, requiring the Receptionist to uphold these standards through confidentiality agreements, competency testing, and adherence to organizational policies.
Beyond the role itself, Sea Mar provides generous benefits to full-time employees working 30 hours or more, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, life insurance, long-term disability, an employee assistance program, paid time off starting at 24 days annually plus 10 paid holidays, and retirement options such as 401(k) plans. This comprehensive package supports employee well-being and fosters job satisfaction within a dynamic, culturally diverse workplace focused on growth and community impact.
Sea Mar not only stands as a healthcare provider but also as a community advocate, advancing health equity and access through a multi-faceted approach that blends clinical care with social support services. Working as a Receptionist at Sea Mar offers a meaningful career path for those committed to addressing health disparities and promoting inclusivity in community health.
