Proficiency in operating a multi-line phone system is essential, with the ability to understand and utilize its advanced features. The employee is expected to uphold the hospice philosophy by maintaining a positive image when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and community agencies. Offering excellent customer service through effective call direction and assistance is a critical component of the role.

Additionally, the role requires computer support duties, data entry, and ensuring that communication with patients, families, team members, and other healthcare professionals remains confidential and effective. This clerical position is integral to the daily functions of the hospice organization, enabling the delivery of high-quality care through well-coordinated internal and external communication. Understanding medical terminology is preferred to better assist in the accuracy of communication and documentation. Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance are also required, highlighting the potential need to travel or manage offsite tasks. Job Duties

  • Facilitates the communications system including mail distribution, pagers, phone system, memos, answers incoming calls, documents, and disseminates appropriate messages
  • Provides clerical support including preparation of admission, orientation, and new hire packets
  • Monitors and orders office supplies and forms
  • Performs typing, special projects, filing, and copying
  • Competently handles multi-line phone system and understands system features
  • Promotes hospice philosophy and mission by presenting a positive image to patients, families, physicians, and community agencies
