Job Description
Children's Network of Hillsborough is a dedicated organization committed to collaborating with the community to protect children and preserve families. Operating as a key agency within Hillsborough County, Florida, the organization plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable children and their families. Focused on providing comprehensive services and support, Children's Network of Hillsborough works closely with families, community partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the well-being and safety of children throughout the region.
The organization is widely recognized for its commitment to child welfare and family preservation, emphasizing professionalism, confidentiality, and compassionate service. Their mission is embedded in every aspect of their daily operations and reflects a deep dedication to community welfare.
The position of Receptionist at Children's Network of Hillsborough is a critical frontline role serving as the first point of contact for visitors, families, staff, and community partners. This in-office position averages 40 hours per week during the organization's standard business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, although flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required to meet operational demands.
The Receptionist is responsible for managing front desk operations with professionalism and warmth, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere that aligns with the organization's values. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, promptly handling phone inquiries, managing visitor logs, issuing badges, and directing individuals to the appropriate departments. In addition to these duties, the role involves providing essential administrative support such as sorting mail, scheduling meetings, maintaining office supplies, and assisting with special projects or agency events.
Effective communication skills are paramount for this position, as the Receptionist must engage with diverse community members in both English and Spanish where possible, responding to inquiries via phone, email, or in person. The ability to provide basic translation aids in making services more accessible to Spanish-speaking clients and partners. Handling situations with courtesy, professionalism, and discretion is essential, particularly in maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive information related to the children and families served.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor's degree. Prior administrative or secretarial experience is highly valued. The role demands strong interpersonal and organizational skills, a capacity for data entry and office software use, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
In addition to regular office duties, the Receptionist will participate in required annual training hours and comply with specific pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screening, proof of education, and a valid driver's license. The position does not include supervisory responsibilities but demands a high level of responsibility, adaptability, and excellent customer service orientation.
Overall, this role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the important work of safeguarding children and supporting families within Hillsborough County while gaining valuable experience in an organization deeply rooted in community service, child welfare, and family preservation.
