Job Description

Gem Prep Meridian South is a part of Gem Prep, a distinguished K-12 college preparatory school known for its commitment to delivering high-quality, personalized, and rigorous education. This full-time position offers a competitive wage of $15.50 per hour and is based at the Gem Prep Meridian South location. The role of Receptionist is critical in fostering a welcoming and efficient front office environment, acting as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors. The Receptionist undertakes diverse responsibilities encompassing front office management, communication, clerical duties, and administrative support, all essential for the smooth daily operations of the school. This position reports directly to the School Operations Manager and is vital in supporting both student engagement and staff productivity.

The Receptionist’s primary tasks include greeting and assisting visitors with professionalism and warmth, managing incoming phone calls, handling mail, and providing accurate information about school enrollment and registration processes. With an emphasis on organizational skills, this role is responsible for maintaining student records, preparing administrative documents such as reports and newsletters, and managing important school communications and directories. Additionally, this position requires operating various office equipment and assisting with inventory, purchase orders, and clerical tasks that support the overall operational efficacy of the school.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist students, families, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • answer, screen, and route incoming calls
  • handle inquiries and provide information as needed
  • sort, process, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • provide information about school enrollment and registration
  • distribute and collect forms
  • maintain a welcoming and efficient office environment
  • maintain student files and prepare documents such as reports, rosters, letters, and newsletters
  • request and send student records as needed between schools
  • enter and review administrative data for accuracy
  • manage staff directories, substitute lists, schedules, and calendars
  • perform clerical functions related to attendance, charts, and record keeping
  • operate office equipment including computers, copiers, scanners, intercom, laminator, and phone systems
  • assist with purchase orders and maintain updated inventory records
  • support the School Operations Manager with clerical and organizational tasks
  • maintain filing systems and ensure confidentiality of student and staff records
