Job Description
Mortenson is a leading construction and real estate development company known for its extensive expertise and commitment to excellence across diverse markets including sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and more. As a top builder, developer, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm, Mortenson prioritizes creating a lasting positive impact on the built environment. Based in Minneapolis, MN, Mortenson has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. The company emphasizes a diverse and inclusive workplace, encouraging unique perspectives and creativity among its employees. Mortenson is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to providing fair employment opportunities regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, marital status, or any other legally protected status.
The Front Desk Receptionist role at Mortenson's Minneapolis headquarters is a vital front-facing position responsible for managing the main reception area and serving as the primary point of contact for both internal team members and external guests. This role requires someone with exceptional customer service skills and a professional demeanor who can welcome visitors warmly and efficiently, maintaining Mortenson's high standards for guest experience. The individual will also be tasked with ensuring the reception area is kept clean, organized, and professional, reflecting the company's commitment to excellence and hospitality.
Responsibilities extend beyond greeting guests and include handling a wide range of administrative and operational duties essential to the smooth functioning of the office. These include managing front desk operations such as updating and auditing guest logs, maintaining vendor badge folders, administering microphone check-out logs, and coordinating fitness center and electronic vehicle membership requests. Additionally, the receptionist will manage appointments, schedule meetings and conference rooms, maintain office supplies and equipment in the business center, and handle incoming calls with professionalism and accuracy.
Confidentiality is paramount in this role, as the receptionist will deal with sensitive information daily. The ability to multitask and work quickly and accurately under pressure is essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The position requires at least four years of experience in a receptionist or customer service-oriented function, preferably within an office environment, along with familiarity with customer service principles and administrative procedures.
The role offers a competitive base pay range of $19.57 to $26.44 per hour, with adjustments depending on location and individual qualifications. Mortenson also offers an incentive plan for this position. Benefits for full-time employees working 25 or more hours per week include medical and prescription drug plans with no-cost vision coverage, dental plans, a 401k retirement plan with a generous company match, paid time off, holidays, employer-paid life and disability insurance, mental health resources, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and gym membership discounts.
Mortenson values individuals who work with a positive attitude, demonstrate excellent phone etiquette, and are organized and efficient. This on-site position requires legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Mortenson maintains a strict no-solicitation policy in hiring and does not offer visa sponsorship. The company’s supportive work environment and comprehensive benefits package make it an attractive place for career growth and professional development in the administrative support field.
