Job Description
Gompers is a longstanding community-oriented organization dedicated to providing comprehensive programs and services to support individuals and families. Established with a mission to enhance quality of life through various assistance programs, Gompers operates as a nonprofit organization focused on administration and community services. The organization fosters a collaborative work environment where teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to service are paramount.
We are currently seeking a Receptionist to join our Administration department. This non-exempt, full-time position is critical to the smooth operation of Gompers as the first point of contact for visitors and callers. Reporting directly to the Director of Programs and Services, the Receptionist will play an essential role in providing efficient, courteous front desk services while supporting administrative staff with clerical and typing duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations at the front desk, assisting various directors and administrative personnel, and managing communications and supply purchase assistance. The role offers an opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization that values community engagement, organizational skills, and excellent communication.
The Receptionist at Gompers must be capable of multitasking and maintaining a professional presence in a busy environment. Key responsibilities include participation in front desk operations, providing clerical assistance to senior staff members including the Executive Director and Human Resources Director, supporting the Chief Financial Officer with supply procurement and distribution, and other duties as assigned. This position requires a candidate with strong telephone etiquette, good spelling, proficiency with office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, and calculators, and an understanding of filing systems and general office procedures.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma and at least two years of secretarial experience. Typing skills at a corrected speed of 55 words per minute are required. Bilingual skills are beneficial but not mandatory. The role demands a strong ability to communicate effectively both in person and on the phone, as well as the capacity to relate well with staff, guests, and members. Applicants should embody common sense, exhibit sound reasoning abilities, and be physically able to sit for extended periods without health issues that would interfere with job responsibilities. Gompers is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.
Working at Gompers means joining an organization that prioritizes support, respect, and community responsiveness. While the work environment is generally peaceful with no significant environmental hazards, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and provide prompt service is essential to this role. If you are looking for a fulfilling position within a supportive team dedicated to making a difference, the Receptionist role at Gompers awaits your application.
