Job Description

The Eastlake Park Zoo is a well-established attraction dedicated to fostering an appreciation of wildlife and their natural habitats. Committed to inspiring the community to actively participate in conservation efforts, the Zoo offers an educational and engaging environment for visitors of all ages. As an important entity in the local community, the Zoo emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency to ensure a positive experience for guests. The Zoo operates across multiple departments, each contributing to the overall mission of wildlife conservation and public education.

We are currently seeking a part-time Receptionist to join our Guest Services team. Reporting directly to the Guest Services Management, this role is integral in maintaining smooth operations and positive visitor interactions at the front desk. The Receptionist will work a weekly schedule from Saturday through Tuesday, earning $15.00 per hour.

This receptionist position requires a highly professional individual to manage incoming communications, including answering phones and emails, responding to customer inquiries related to admission, memberships, hours of operation, and special events. The role involves coordinating with all departments and supporting ticket sales and membership services, including operating or learning to operate the Zoo's point-of-sale system, Galaxy. The ideal candidate will have previous reception experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle conflict resolution while remaining calm and attentive. Additional responsibilities include assisting with Zoo programming and events, relaying customer feedback to management, and executing duties assigned by the Director of Guest Services or management team. Bilingual candidates are considered a plus, reflecting the Zoo's commitment to serving a diverse community.

This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to contribute positively to team efforts. The Zoo values employees who take initiative and work collaboratively to maintain a safe, welcoming, and educational environment for visitors. Candidates must provide two forms of valid identification and successfully pass a criminal background check and child abuse clearance, ensuring the safety of all patrons, especially minors. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Joining our team offers the opportunity to be part of a meaningful mission to promote wildlife conservation while developing valuable skills in customer service, communications, and organizational operations. This role suits someone looking for part-time hours with a rewarding workplace atmosphere that celebrates community engagement and education. If you are passionate about wildlife, enjoy interacting with the public, and thrive in a supportive team environment, we encourage you to apply for the Receptionist position at Eastlake Park Zoo.
