Job Description

The Wooden Floor is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and transforming the lives of young people through the power of dance and providing access to higher education. Established with a commitment to nurturing talent and fostering personal growth, The Wooden Floor serves as a vital resource for youth in our community, offering them opportunities to explore their potential and achieve academic success alongside their artistic development. The organization operates primarily within two main locations, Main Street and Depot at Santiago, where students participate in a range of dance and educational programs. The Student Support Services Department is a cornerstone of The Wooden Floor's mission, focused on delivering personalized supervision, support, and engagement to students to help them thrive both academically and personally.

The role of Receptionist at The Wooden Floor is crucial as it embodies the front line of interaction for students, families, staff, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Director of Student Development, this part-time, non-exempt position demands a professional who can balance administrative duties with a compassionate and welcoming approach. The Receptionist works afternoons and some Saturdays ensuring that the organization's environment remains inviting, organized, and secure. Acting as the first point of contact, you are an ambassador for the organization’s mission, facilitating smooth entry procedures, addressing inquiries promptly, and fostering a culture of respect and community. This position requires effective communication, active listening skills, and the flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the programs.

Beyond greeting and assisting visitors, the Receptionist supports daily operations by managing attendance records, scheduling communications, and assisting in event execution. This ensures that every aspect of student support services runs efficiently and that the needs of all stakeholders are met with care and professionalism. The emphasis on bilingual communication in Spanish mandated for this role highlights The Wooden Floor's commitment to inclusivity and cultural competency within its community. Candidates ideally have experience in social services, education, or youth programs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary for managing records. Physically, the job requires moderate activity including occasional lifting and movement around the site to maintain a safe and engaging environment.

In summary, the Receptionist position at The Wooden Floor is much more than a clerical role. It is an opportunity to contribute significantly to a transformative program that enriches young lives. Those who join the team can expect a rewarding experience in a mission-driven culture that values support, growth, and community engagement.
