Job Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- six months to one year of receptionist experience preferred
- must pass alphanumeric skills test
- basic data entry skills preferred
- good oral and written communication skills
- good interpersonal skills
- speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position
- knowledge of a second language preferred

Job Duties
- Receives visitors, ascertains needs, and directs guests appropriately
- answers the telephones, routing callers appropriately and taking messages as needed
- routes telephone referrals to the appropriate area or personnel (e.g., Home Care, Social Work, Utilization Management)
- answers routine questions regarding departmental policies, operations and procedures
- directs or escorts patients and visitors to appropriate office or departmental area
- provides necessary departmental forms to visitors and assists them with completion as appropriate
- schedules appointments and notifies department personnel
- sorts and distributes incoming mail
- maintains and updates departmental logs and files (e.g., correspondence, patient referrals)
- assists with filing by arranging material in alpha or numeric order for prompt filing
- maintains and updates the schedule sheet for department personnel
- maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
- enters data into Departmental Information system for in-house, OPD, ER, OR and Recovery
- compiles weekly departmental activity report and submits it to manager by required date
- types forms, cards, memos, etc., as needed
- typing is neat and accurate
- sets up patient records prior to appointment, ensuring all required forms are included
- files paperwork (e.g., test results) in the medical record as directed
- calls ambulettes, car services for patients and visitors as required
