Job Description

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a distinguished career technical school located at the Main Campus in Mesa, Arizona. Renowned for its commitment to providing high-quality education and training, EVIT specializes in equipping both high school and adult students with advanced vocational skills that meet the demands of today’s competitive labor market. With over 50 career and technical education programs, along with associate degrees in Nursing and Surgical Technology, EVIT offers students a comprehensive pathway to professional success including state and national licensing, industry certifications, internships, and even opportunities to earn college credit. The institute’s services are tuition-free for high school students residing in certain district areas, demonstrating its commitment to accessible quality education. In addition to its educational excellence, EVIT places a high priority on creating an inclusive, supportive, and smoke-free work and learning environment that respects diversity and equal opportunity for all individuals.

The role of Receptionist at EVIT’s Main Campus is a full-time, 12-month position that operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This front-desk position serves as a critical first point of contact for students, staff, visitors, and the general public, making it vital for the incumbent to provide outstanding customer service while handling a range of administrative and clerical responsibilities. The receptionist’s tasks include greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls, managing correspondence, and supporting school administrators with various office duties. Organizational skills, multitasking capabilities, and a flexible “can do” attitude are essential to thrive in this role, as the work environment is dynamic and no two days are the same. Additionally, the role demands dependability and excellent attendance to ensure smooth front office operations.

The salary for this position starts at $21.48 per hour, with placement based on a combination of education and relevant experience. EVIT provides an attractive benefits package which includes employer-paid medical insurance, contributions to a health savings account (HSA), basic life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees also have access to voluntary benefits such as dental, vision, supplemental and dependent life insurance, short-term disability, prepaid legal plans, accident coverage, and critical illness insurance. Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) plan is mandatory, featuring a competitive contribution structure with EVIT matching retirement contributions dollar for dollar. This combination of competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and professional work environment makes this role an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking career growth within an educational institution dedicated to workforce preparation.

Ideal candidates need to hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent and bring one or more years of customer service experience alongside increasing levels of clerical responsibility or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Possession of a Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and proof of immunization or immunity to measles and rubella is required to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience as a receptionist or office support in a school district environment, as well as familiarity with Google school-related software which enhances administrative efficiency. By joining EVIT, employees become part of a mission-focused institution dedicated to changing lives by providing career and college preparatory training that meets the evolving demands of business and industry.
