BJ's Wholesale Club is currently seeking a Receiving Department Supervisor to join their team. This full-time role requires an individual with full open availability who will be responsible for supervising the receiving department operations. The Receiving Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the receipt and disposition of merchandise and inventory, ensuring all procedures are followed meticulously to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Key responsibilities include processing paperwork, verifying merchandise against purchase orders, addressing any discrepancies or damages, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for both team members and members of the club.
This position involves leading and mentoring receiving department staff, coordinating delivery schedules, managing inventory controls, and enforcing club standards to achieve business targets. The supervisor is expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and logistics partners. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Forklift operator certification
- Ability to work full open availability
- Physical ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally more with assistance
- Ability to move continuously on hard surfaces and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, or stooping
- Comfortable working amidst moving machinery and loud equipment
- Effective communication and leadership skills
Job Qualifications
- Forklift operator certification
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Prior experience in a big box receiving environment preferred
- Computer skills preferred
- At least 18 years of age
Job Duties
- Maintain the operations of the receiving department including matching received inventory against purchase orders and reviewing discrepancies
- Process inbound and outbound shipments and ensure all product pricing and signage is displayed
- Ensure radio frequency (RF) guns are used when receiving merchandise
- Complete and verify all receiving paperwork and daily reports
- Supervise receivers and receiving clerks acting as a mentor and reporting issues to management
- Communicate and coordinate with logistics to oversee delivery schedules
- Conduct department self-audits with detail and accuracy
- Enforce process to secure receiving doors, check visitors and vendors, and inspect bags leaving the building
- Assign truck door locations ensuring drivers are outside trucks during unloading and that trucks are secured
- Monitor safety equipment like dock restraints to ensure proper working condition
- Verify seal integrity of trucks including distribution center loads and frozen/dairy shipments
- Monitor and secure high shrink merchandise and ensure proper handling of Direct Store Delivery (DSD) quantities
- Execute merchandise protection on designated items
- Operate compactor and cardboard baler and secure equipment when not in use
- Maintain compliance with all club policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned including supporting other departments as needed
- Ensure regular, predictable, full attendance
