The role of Kitchen Manager, Receiving, within the Food & Nutrition Services department at Parkridge Elementary in Peoria, AZ, is a critical management position focused on overseeing, managing, and supervising various kitchen operations and food service functions for the district. This is a Food Service/Manager position with a 9.5-month term of employment, classified at Salary Level 12. The position reports directly to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for coordinating food preparation activities, supervising personnel, managing inventory and supplies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. This role requires a strong leader who can provide effective training, establish performance measures, and maintain operational excellence in a fast-paced school kitchen environment.
Key responsibilities include managing food service lines, overseeing inventory and food deliveries, and maintaining proper food temperatures and portion controls. The Kitchen Manager will also be involved in record keeping, cash handling, and ensuring student eligibility for free or reduced-cost meal programs. Job Requirements
- Must have or obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- must be able to pass a background clearance check
- must obtain and maintain a Certified Food Service Manager's card within one month of employment
- may be required to lift and carry heavy supplies, materials, equipment or food weighing up to 50 pounds
- may be exposed to extreme temperature shifts in kitchen and freezer
- may be required to work outside normal working hours

- must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver license
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- five years of relevant, progressively responsible food service preparation, cooking, baking, kitchen management or closely related experience
- knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances and codes
- knowledge of PUSD policies and procedures
- knowledge of principles of management and supervision
- knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
- knowledge of inventory control principles
- knowledge of nutrition standards and guidelines
- skill in interpreting and applying regulations and policies
- skill in identifying nutrition needs and guidelines
- skill in following written formulas, recipes and cooking instructions
- skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations
- skill in operating personal computers and various software applications
Job Duties
- Lead the work unit and personnel
- provide and recommend training
- coordinate schedules, prioritize and assign tasks and projects
- establish performance measures, goals, objectives and priorities
- evaluate work performance
- provide feedback and technical guidance
- advise personnel of new or revised information
- assign, plan and supervise food preparation work
- review planned menus, schedules and related requirements
- oversee removal of food supplies, products, seasonings and other items necessary from inventory
- initiate purchase or restocking of supplies and materials as required
- direct and participate in cleaning and sanitation of kitchen, food preparation and other relevant areas
- determine compliance with established practices and procedures
- review and monitor food service lines
- observe operations and activities
- work with cooks and others to ensure food is stored, available and served at correct temperature and monitor student portions
- review student eligibility for free or reduced cost meals
- prepare food production worksheets
- review past records and files
- determine appropriate amounts of food products, service and related items to be ordered
- oversee and perform cash handling duties including collecting, verifying, reconciling and depositing payments
- review food products delivered and ensure compliance with quantity and quality ordered
- initiate return process for unusable or unwanted products
- oversee and assist with storage of food products and supplies
- update records of products received and utilized
- perform other duties as assigned or required
