Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company (NJFC) is a distinguished leader in the food processing industry, specializing in the production of high-quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit products. With a robust history spanning over 50 years, NJFC has established itself as a trusted supplier to the nation’s foodservice, retail, industrial, and institutional customers. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, the company operates three strategically located production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA; San Benito Foods in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. This multi-site operation allows NJFC to maintain a consistent supply of premium canned and pouched products, meeting the exacting standards of their diverse customer base.

The Neil Jones Food Company is currently seeking a Seasonal Receiving Clerk to join their team at the San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, California. This role is a seasonal position that supports the fresh pack season, typically running from June through October. The Receiving Clerk plays an essential role in the processing and accurate documentation of fresh produce deliveries. This position involves providing drivers with the correct Processor Tomato Advisory Board paperwork, verifying the accuracy of information on State Tags, and ensuring that all paperwork is reconciled and filed promptly in the company’s system.

As a Seasonal Receiving Clerk at NJFC, the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving the State Tag from the grading station, preparing day tags for drivers with precise information, issuing day tags corresponding to the designated load numbers, and addressing any errors that may arise during the receiving process. The role demands a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to interact professionally and courteously with a range of stakeholders including truck drivers, facility employees, management, and state employees. Additionally, the clerk may be called upon to train new employees as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the receiving department during the busy fresh pack season.

This seasonal role requires an individual who is adaptable and willing to work extended hours, weekends, and any assigned shifts during the peak season to ensure the efficient and timely processing of incoming goods. The position offers a valuable opportunity for individuals looking to gain seasonal employment within a reputable company known for its commitment to quality and operational excellence. Applicants will also benefit from paid sick leave eligibility and the assurance of working for a company that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment. NJFC participates in E-Verify, reinforcing their commitment to lawful hiring practices, and ensures adherence to Federal Employment Laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA).
