The role of Ready Mix Driver at Preferred Materials' Jacksonville, FL location is a critical position that involves safely transporting ready mix concrete to various job sites for construction projects. Employees in this role are responsible for operating concrete mixer trucks, maintaining cleanliness and serviceability of the equipment, and safely delivering and discharging concrete loads under varying conditions, including uneven terrain and potentially adverse weather. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role requiring the ability to lift between 25 to 50 pounds regularly, handle extension chutes, and work on slippery surfaces. Drivers must be attentive to safety protocols, comply with Department of Transportation regulations, and possess the necessary Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- valid class A or B commercial driver’s license with necessary endorsements
- current medical card or ability to obtain one
- must pass DOT physical and drug screening
- ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly
- no recent DUI history
- minimal moving violations
- willingness to work overtime and in varying weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- able to read, write, and communicate effectively
- 1-2 years of related experience or training
- class A or B driver’s license with current medical card or ability to obtain one
- no DUIs within last 3 years
- minimal moving violations
- able to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- good interpersonal skills
- ability to read and interpret written information such as safety rules, sales tickets, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- forklift certification preferred
Job Duties
- ensure safety
- drive concrete mixer to work sites and discharge load
- hose down the rig to keep it clean
- walk on uneven and slippery surfaces at work sites and plant
- lift and attach extension chutes weighing thirty to fifty pounds to end of primary chute
- oil, grease, service and make operating adjustments to equipment
- comply with company safety policies and undergo DOT physical/drug screening
